Last Snow of 2013
Snow started falling mid-day Monday (December 30), and continued on through the night – it was a fine, dry snow that glittered like diamonds. We awoke to a sparkling winter wonderland!

We got a beautiful 6-8″ of gentle no-wind snow the other night, which was the perfect opportunity to get the 8N out and plow the driveways. I think I saw Norman Rockwell lurking about, too.
Despite the 8N looking all smug, it only raked the hay this year – the Allis Chalmers AC 190 does the work of spinning the baler now. The round bales are from the first cutting back in June.
I still owe the web site a ton of updates, but am throwing this one in just to document I saw my first gaggle of geese headed South this morning while doing chores. They’re probably not actually migrating at this point, but we’ll likely start to see more over the next weeks.
I spent a pleasant five hours or so muttering around the hay field this weekend with the 8N and Van Brundt, drilling in some orchard and brome grass on top of last years seeding of alfalfa. We got a bit of rain today, with more forecast for tomorrow.
We got hit with our first snow of the 2012-13 Winter season today, and it’s been a humdinger of a blizzard!
