New Email Addresses; New Website Address

As we have finally been able to get reasonably-priced high-speed internet (WiFi) out here in corn country, we've changed our provider. Please update your records with our new email addresses:

Our website address is now www.elmnet.net/~stembridge

We'll keep the old mindspring.com addresses active for a few months before we shut them down. Make a note of it!

Harvest Time

Our busy summer continues... I spent a week in early September traveling for my job to Grenoble, France and Wackerdorf, Germany, followed by a quick overnight trip to Sanford, NC (also for work), and day trips to our other plants here in Illinois.

The combines have been out in force for several weeks now - a bit earlier than normal due to the severe drought conditions we had all summer. We're finally starting to get some rain (about 2" in the past two weeks), naturally, right when the farmers don't need it.

Our hay crop has been very good this year. We thought we'd get five cuttings, but all the recent rain has put a stop to that. If you cut alfalfa too late in the year, it doesn't put enough nutrients back into the roots system to survive the winter. Even with four cuttings, we still cut almost as many bales as we got last year (which was a very wet year), for which we're thankful.

Finally, we enjoyed getting out and driving through some of the small towns in Stark County on the annual Fall Drive. Each town has crafts and exhibits, and as usual, we picked up several armloads of used books from the Library sale. We also enjoyed watching these border Collies herding geese!

Hope you're doing well - drop us a line at our new email address when you get a chance...
