Heading West: Days 4-6 – Old Faithful to the Oregon Trail

We spent Sunday night at Cody’s Cowboy Village in Cody, Wyoming—it was really neat!

After doing a little shopping in Cody the next morning, we headed into Yellowstone, and arrived about 15 minutes before Old Faithful put on her show.

From there, we spent the rest of the day walking around and looking at thermal geysers and other beautiful aspects of creation.

The word “awesome” is overused to the point of not meaning anything anymore, but it’s truly the only word that fits something like the Yellowstone Grand Canyon.

We tent camped on the East side of the park Monday night, and moved to a campground on the West side Tuesday night (to be an hour closer to our destination tonight). Other than moose, bighorn sheep and rattlesnakes, I think we saw most of the common types of wildlife found in Yellowstone (thankfully always from the comfort and safety of our car!).

We departed from Yellowstone this morning, and are staying in La Grande, Oregon tonight. We had supper in Bakers City, which lies along the Oregon Trail paths.

Tomorrow we head to Seattle!
