The contractor started installing the new roofing steel today – woohoo! It was a frigid -2°F when I did chores this morning, and had only climbed a degree or two when the crew arrived and started trying to coax the equipment to life.

We had to use a heat gun on the scissor-lift control panel to thaw it enough so it would work (which had to be repeated several times during the morning). While the crew was installing panels, I worked on repairing three broken purloins on the south face of the roof, and then finished removing the old entry door and shop window.

Work had to stop a bit early as it started snowing mid-afternoon, which made it treacherous up on the rafters. Thankfully, the guys got enough panels up to cover the workshop area in order to minimize snow getting on top of it and melting down through the ceiling.
