South end of the house, completely sheathed and ready for housewrap… I had to rebuild the casing along the bottom of the top-right window as it was almost completely rotted out. Not that easy to do when the window is already installed in the wall!
Work continues on re-siding the house. I had to shut off power to the whole house so I could remove the original junction box where street power entered in, as well as pull my new box (the small grey box along the foundation wall) away to remove the rest of the original siding. Now that the Dining Room ceiling is up, I’ve shifted back to my last major house project for the summer—residing. All the old siding has been stripped off; there were two layers—the original wood lap siding and the aluminum siding that’s been on the house since maybe the 1970s?
After nearly a year (!) of working on those twenty-five vintage tin tiles, we finally got them installed yesterday.
