Miscellaneous Ramblings

The photo on the left is of my mom (of 36 years as of this writing!). I found the photo while looking through a shoebox full of old family snapshots, and thought it was pretty neat. Mom raised four rather active boys, and after divorce, re-entered the workforce. In her previous work experience, high tech meant typing in triplicate with carbon paper. She worked hard to learn computers (I recall a number of "how do I" phone calls!), and plans to retire soon after 16 very successful years of working for the University of Georgia.

Mom   Granny

The photo to the right is of my grandmother ("Granny" to practically everyone she meets). My grandpa snapped this photo in New York, if I remember correctly. He worked for Southern Railroad for 45 years. I lived with Granny while attending Georgia Tech, and afterwards until I married Beth. My grandpa died the summer after my freshman year, and Granny and I have been very close ever since.

Granny moved from her home in Hapeville, Georgia a few years ago - one of the hardest things she (and we, the family) have ever had to do. She now lives a few miles from my mom in Athens, Georgia.
