Yesterday was “Roundup Day” here on the farm – it was time to take our heifer, Punch, to the locker for butchering, and while I had access to the stock trailer, we also loaded up our cow Judy and took her to a farming friend with a bull for breeding.
The South-facing roof is complete. Yay!

Snow started falling mid-day Monday (December 30), and continued on through the night – it was a fine, dry snow that glittered like diamonds. We awoke to a sparkling winter wonderland!
The contractor started installing the new roofing steel today – woohoo! It was a frigid -2°F when I did chores this morning, and had only climbed a degree or two when the crew arrived and started trying to coax the equipment to life.
Twice a day during winter months, I trudge out to the 99 year-old wooden hay barn to do chores – feeding and watering the livestock. Following is a series of photos taken while waiting on the water tank to fill over the course of the year.
