Heading Northwest: Day 7—Oregon Trail to Bill Gates

We spent Sunday night at Cody’s Cowboy Village in Cody, Wyoming—it was really neat! After doing a little shopping in Cody the next morning, we headed into Yellowstone, and arrived about 15 minutes before Old Faithful put on her show.
Our travels started today with a drive-by of the Mt. Rushmore monument. Both of us felt that, while majestic, it was “smaller” than what we expected. Day two found us in De Smet, SD, where the Ingalls family finally settled. Lots to do here—we decided we’ll have to come back sometime to see more. We detoured through the Badlands and arrived tired and late at Mt. Rushmore.
Now that the Dining Room ceiling is up, I’ve shifted back to my last major house project for the summer—residing. All the old siding has been stripped off; there were two layers—the original wood lap siding and the aluminum siding that’s been on the house since maybe the 1970s?
